Walter Scotti: Walter Scotti was born in Taranto. He comes from a family with old artistic roots: his paternal grandfather Francesco, around the turn of the century has specialized in frescoes and ornaments, instead his brother Gabriele who is emigrant in Milan, has devoted himself to easel painting. After many amateur experiences, Walter Scotti has made friends with the most representative group of Taranto artists as Carrini, Boniello, Di Coste e Palmisano. When he moved to Roma, he made friends with some socially committed painters as Calabria e Mulase and as president, he set up the association for painters of Piazza Navona: “La galleria sotto le stelle” (Gallery under starlight). In 1971 he promoted and organized the art exhibition “via Margutta a Campione d’ Italia” and received by the commune a coveted recognition. During the same years he was one of the founders of the association “100 pittori di via Margutta” and was elected vice-president. In Roma he has assiduously gone around with remarkable personalities as Gatto, Fusco, Grillandi, Apuleo, Mercuri e Rivosecchi who have left a tangible sign of their admiration through writings about his painting. In 1974 he was chosen by UNICEF to paint a picture for thousands of postcards whose proceeds were donated to welfare institutions for children. He has exhibited in joint exhibitions and personal exhibitions, earning raves from critic and public.
